Poinsettias for HOME!

The holidays are coming and there is no better way to add festive beauty to your home and office than with a Poinsettia! They also make great gifts for friends, family and co-workers. Support HOME by purchasing your Poinsettias through the Medical Foundation! Thank you to the Medical Foundation of Marion and Polk Counties for including HOME as one of the beneficiaries of the sale!

Thank you Kemper Insurance!

A great big thanks to Susan Gray and Kemper Insurance for their recent donation! HOME was first introduced to this generous group through Days of Caring and we are thankful for their donation and for remembering all of the youth at HOME!

Halloween 2012!

Yesterday HOME was filled with spooky Halloween spirit! With pumpkins provided by Marion Polk Food Share and great pumpkin decorating ideas from Shawna and our volunteer Nancy, youth decorated pumpkins all afternoon. Youth also watched scary movies, "bobbed" for donuts and worked on Halloween word searches. We saw some great costumes including Minnie Mouse, jailbirds, various monsters and Day of the Dead characters. We served a total of 33 dinners complete with kitty litter cake on the side! Halloween also marked Jovany's last day of work at HOME. We wish him the best of luck in the future; he will be missed!!

Check out some pictures of the day's activities:

Is that kitty litter or cake?

Shawna is Dia de los Muertos

Shain and the mysterious candy jar: all week youth guessed the number of pieces they believed to be in the jar. The winner received all the candy! The total was 308 pieces.

Jovany's last day- we will miss you!

Crew's Car Wash

Crew, HOME's youth service group, planned and executed a car wash fundraiser on August 8th, 2012. Using donated supplies and space from Salem's First Christian Church, youth waved signs and scrubbed cars for more than three hours! The car wash was free but many patrons made donations which totaled to $113! Crew decided to donate 50% of the donated funds to the Mid-Valley Women's Crisis Service. The rest of the donations will help Crew purchase supplies for future service projects. Great job to Crew for completing a great service project. And a big thank you to First Christian Church for making the fundraiser possible.
